My oh my, it is getting quite chilly outside, isn’t it? I live deep in Texas and today it was 37 degrees. Cray-cray. Although I’m Norwegian by blood (and thus am contractually obligated to love chilly weather ) it can be quite uncomfortable to be caught in a cold place with thin layers. This Zara coat (last winter, sorry) is the perfect mix of style and substance.

Are you a hat person? I’m one of those people who has never felt really comfortable wearing hats, and am always startled and awkward when people I’m shopping with try to tell me that they think I look good in hats. “Oh, er, um, this thing? Ah. Thanks. I’m gonna put it back now. I’d never wear it. But thanks.” I’m trying. And this isn’t the first time I’ve worn a fedora on the blog (here, and here).

I thought I was being so clever in snipping off the ribbon from my $20 Albertus Swanepoel for Target hat (making it look exactly like the $178 J.Crew version) but it seems the internet (I mean you, Alicia!) beat me to the punch! Clever folks! Haha :) I love a good bargain, especially when mixed with a little DIY ingenuity.

PSS Random Fact Time! I can sing the entire Gangsta’s Paradise song (you know, by Coolio?) from start to finish. Coolio’s rapping ain’t got nothing on this girl. Maybe I’ll do it sometime on the blog?

    Well, I think the hat looks great on you! It’s fab and I love the leopard print! However, I do understand your hesitation regarding hats….I’m the same way! I also love the touch of sparkle with the Zara sequined clutch. Considering I also love your Zara blazer and coat and your MIA shoes…..I have some shopping to do! ;)

    P.S.- it’s also really cold in Tulsa too! High yesterday was only 34 degrees! Brrrrrrr!

    Well yes, the hat question is difficult. Unforunately hats don’t suit me at all. I look ridiculous in them. But I think this one suits you very well – you look fantastic in it! But the only thing that matters is how you feel with the hat – and I feel horrible with hat…

    You DO look so good in hats…I’m a little jealous. I don’t know why fedoras never seem to look right on me – I really wish they did because I love them so. :( Oh, and um I know all the words to that song, too – that’s what happens when you have a brother who blared it constantly!

    I wish I could wear hats more but I rarely find one that fits my giant noggin (a gift from my big-headed father). One size fits all? Pul-eeze. I tried this same one on at Target – loved it, but couldn’t get it over my forehead. On a more positive note, I’m taking my new Zara clutch out for its debut on a weekend trip to Nashville – how exciting!
    P.S. I can sing the entire “Humpty Dance” by Digital Underground. :)

    I am with ya on the hat sitch but i broke down and bought a fedora and I have gotten tons of compliments so I’m thinkin maybe a fedora is just what us “non-hat wearing” girls need! I am loving your leopard print fedora, I just might have to venture to Target and while I am there I MIGHT pick up a floppy hat too… MAYBE! haha

    first of all I just found your amazing blog and I’m so super glad I did. Second I am obsessed with that Zara clutch I want it so bad mainly because I love anything with sequins but this one is just too perfect. And I also was not a hat person until this past summer when I found one that I just loved too much to pass up and everyone else loves it too!

    I think most of the time hats are about confidence. If YOU think you look good, you can pull off anything, including hats!

    I love wearing them myself, but only pull them out on the weekends. I wish I could wear them more often!

    I think the hat looks great on you. I always want to wear hats, but I’m the same way – I never feel that they look good on me. I always feel awkward in them. I buy them, but never wear them. :(
