Have you heard that primary school riddle, “What’s black, white, & red all over?” “A newspaper!”

If you haven’t, consider yourself enlightened.

Please don’t mind the bunchy belt sitch going on over here. Something to do with ruffle-butt and starchy-gingham-shirts-not-tucking-properly-into-light-weight-chiffon-skirts. I may or may not be one of those girls that reaches under her skirt while waiting for the elevator, and pulls down her shirt from the inside.

May or may not.

This is my outfit for the latest BDIB challenge (RED). Be sure to post and link up your look featuring something (or everything) RED on Tuesday!

Be a doll and 1) have a great weekend, and 2) click “Like” above on the floating menu bar that creepily follows you around until you share this golden-nugget-of-a-post with others. Creepy, but effective. I need one of those for my to-do list everyday. I’d get all that sh*t done.

When I have that same tucking in problem, I just wear my spanx so that the shirt stays tucked in & doesn’t get all bunchy under the skirt. :) Love the gingham with red – I’ve got to go work on my look for BDIB!!

  • http://sparkycorner.wordpress.com Sara

Love the mix and the arm party you got goin’ there!!

  • http://www.colorful-journal.com/ Andrea Garland

The skirt looks faboulous, love how you put all together.

  • nikki

The skirt is amazing. And for those that dont look good in red (you do!) it is a nice option since it is not up against your face.
BTW who won the purse from last week?

    • http://prettyshinysparkly.com Kristina

Hey! It was comment #190, it was announced on twitter :)

  • http://fashionablyliving.com Rachel

    Kristina,
I visit your blog often, but this is by far my favorite outfit I have seen you wear! There is something so classy about checkered J.Crew top and yet your skirt is whimsical! I love the colors and the nude shoes too! Love this look!

    XO,

This outfit is adorable and the Mulberry Alexa – well what can I say ….j’adore x

  • http://www.kitchenmommy.wordpress.com Courtney

Love love love the look! Especially the skirt. I never really considered a skirt with a longer hem in back, but it looks really wearable. It’s now an option, at least, for my closet – which desperately needs a revamp!

  • http://semicosmic.blogspot.com Nichole

How lovely is this outfit really? I absolutely love the colours. So well put together.

  • http://www.funfashionfit.com Jani

Gorgeous outfit! That red skirt is super flattering on you. :)

    • http://prettyshinysparkly.com Kristina

Hi Jani, thanks so much! I had to remove the links within the comment body again as per my comment policy. But thanks so much for the sweet & kind words! :) Not many skirts are very flattering on me since my legs are chunkier for my frame than I’d like, but I love this skirt.

  • http://iwanttheseshoes.blogspot.com Olivia Moore

I am truly in love with this look. I love that you’re so real, I always wondered if others had that same problem tucking their shirts into skirts and having it bunch up all funky. So glad I’m not the only one!! I saw someone else comment they tuck their shirt into spanx, that’s such a great idea. I need to do that. Sometimes i just tuck into my tights but doesn’t always work with oversized shirts.
anyway, I love your blog. You inspire me! I’ve been trying to experiment with bright colors on the bottom..just bought blue pants and a neon green maxi skirt so we’ll see how it goes.. lol

    xx Olivia

Love this look on you and this skirt definitely has a way of lengthening the leg. Something I could totally use as well! Does the BDIB with red count that I have red hair? :)

  • http://o-my-heart.blogspot.com/ Kate

This is such a gorgeous combination, Kristina! Red, black & white is always an amazing combo, but I love the flowy skirt with the casual button up and the bold (and gorrrrgeous) bag! Love it!

  • http://www.right-clicksavestyle.com Candyce Nicole

    Loving this look so much!!

Oh, and the answer to this riddle for me was always “a baby zebra with diaper rash” LOL!!

Can’t wait to link up next week!!

    • http://prettyshinysparkly.com Kristina

A baby zebra with a diaper rash! Oh my goodness that is hilarious, I’ve never heard that before! haha

Great outfit! I love your skirt. Coincidentally, what you’re wearing is very similar to what I wore for my graduation. Only my shirt was red, my skirt sort-of gingham and the belt is pretty much the same! Haha I thought that was pretty cool.

  • http://myturn-evelyn.blogspot.com/ Evelyn

I so totally love this purse and of course the black, white and red all over! I am so looking for a close replica of this purse that I can afford (absolutely not a knock off) but a close resemblance. And by the way, I love Bauble bar, I had sooo many problems last week and flunked the challenge but I passed this week and purchased the earrings. Thank you, Kristina for introducing me to Bauble Bar.

I’m an up and coming personal style ‘diarist’ who came across your page for the first time today and am loving your style. I just bought the same skirt in black from F21 and my beau just bought a black/whtie gingham print shirt from Ralph Lauren that I’ve been swooning over for the last week so I’m totally inspired by this look! I also have the same MIA shoes in a taupe-like color…you have fantastic style! :-)
