Consignment

As a beauty and style blogger, you know this girl can accumulate quite a fair few treasures. I also have hoarding tendencies, but thanks to my husband's suggestion and the power of the Luxury Managers via the White Glove service at The RealReal, I've managed to select a few treasures from my collection that I want to see in a better home. A home where they can be cherished, loved, and not relegated to one of my closets, packed prettily away, never used. I'm an Editor at heart, and I desperately needed to edit down my collection.

The process was super simple. I coordinated with my Luxury Manager (assigned based on where you live) who met me at my home, photographed each item for our records, and neatly packaged them up to be shipped to The RealReal's warehouse, where the items were researched, catalogued, and photographed, and finally uploaded to The RealReal's website so that some lucky person will peruse, add to cart, and bam, it's theirs....

If you have merchandise that you just aren't using to full effect and you want to free up some cash flow to make some more purchases (or get that It bag you've been coveting), I highly recommend consigning with The RealReal....and I'll tell you why below.

I curated a few pieces that are new and modern and a few that have been loved but just don't hold that special place in my heart anymore. For example, my Rebecca Minkoff bags don't see the light of day now that I carry my Louis Vuitton Speedy, my Chanel Jumbo Flap, or my Celine Luggage tote around on any given day. My Miu Miu glitter mary-janes are what I affectionately call my "blogger heels" --- they were worn to two blogging conferences, and never worn again, because I thought them too pretty to mess up. They used to be in the background of my videos (on my bookshelf) tucked behind the glass panels, but now they are on The RealReal!

Consigning with The RealReal is super simple, but I especially like it because of a few key points:

  • Commission is 60/40% (yours is the higher cut)--and the more you consign, the higher the rate goes from there

  • You don't have to leave your home, or ship anything, your Luxury Manager does it all, pays for it all

  • No need to fight to prove authenticity like with eBay--they'll authenticate for you, and won't sell anything that isn't 100% authenticated by their team of experts

  • They make your stuff look good

  • They reach millions of luxury shoppers, so your item sells sometimes as fast as one hour after posting

  • After 180 days, they won't "donate your item to charity" like local consignment shops have been known to do (!!!)

I also included this pair of Stella McCartney sunglasses that I've never worn (well, except for the above photo!). They still have the tag on! I also parted with half of my massive Michael Kors watch collection, because I wear my Rolex daily (and I suspect a certain Apple timepiece will become part of my repertoire right around my birthday May 1 this year....haha). So I was happy to find these beautiful pieces a new home.

Let me know if you have any pieces you've been thinking about consigning! It's so simple, it has me going around my house looking at everything in a new light! Consign with The RealReal -- I highly recommend it. You'll be able to see all of my pieces in a collection up soon!
