Past, Present, and Future

The past, present, and future are all on the mind today as I get ready to marry the love of my life. My parents' wedding {above} could not be more different than mine. They married in a courtyard, catered by a local grocery store, officiated by a Justice of the Peace (who was so drunk he couldn't remember their names). My mother wore a two piece white suit and daisies in her hair. How beautiful. How wonderful.

I've been experiencing a wide range of emotions this week, and nostalgia and sadness are not immune. I've been especially thinking a lot about those special few who can not be with me to share in my most special of days. Erik, I miss you so much and wish you were standing up there with my husband-to-be, watching me walk down the aisle with that wide grin of yours. I think of Bestemor, my Norwegian grandmother who is also in heaven, and her warm smile, soft laugh, and homemade chocolate cake. I know that they will both be there enjoying the festivities, even if I cannot see them.

The present is a time for being in the moment--relishing everything and everyone and all the love that surrounds us. I cannot believe that so many people come together to celebrate one couple's love for each other. It is mind boggling and so very romantic.

The future is full of exciting milestones and a shared life together: honeymooning in Paris & the French Riviera, graduating from medical school, moving in to our first house--the list goes on. It's daunting, but together, we can do anything.

Thank you for sharing in my joy on this very special day. I will be Instagram-ing what I can, so be sure to follow me there or check out this page for those of you who don't have access. Also, don't forget to check out our engagement photos session, posted yesterday on Style Me Pretty.

Wish me luck!
