Bloggers Do It Better

I have to admit I was (and still am) really nervous about bringing this idea into fruition. My overriding fear of rejection that has been etched into my being thanks to a very traumatic experience (see #7 for the story) gnaws away at me even as I hit “Publish”. I sincerely hope that you like this project, I think it’ll be so much fun and a great way for us to network with one another and at the very least, give us opportunities to get out of a fashion rut every now and then. But I need you to make this work. I really do. No, not the other blogger you assume will step up to the plate, I mean you. Big or small. New or old. You. I’m hangin’ out on a limb here! Without further ado…

Introducing…

Part of the fabulousness of this digital age we all live in and enjoy today comes from the amazing connection we as an audience and consumer have with the business world. Now, we can talk to our favorite designers, brands, and retailers via Twitter, and Real People are modeling the latest trends for big name brands, showcasing their Real Style. This is fabulous!

To celebrate this utterly fabulous movement, I’m happy to announce a brand new series called “Bloggers Do It Better”. The name may be full of attitude and spunk, but it’s going to be fun, fabulous, and starring you. Yes, I said you. So get crackin’ because once you get the assignment, it’s up to you to create your very best interpretation of the phrase (be it a trend, accessory, color, pattern, etc.). It’s going to be so much fun!

Here’s how you play:

  1. Place the Bloggers Do It Better badge on your blog or site, somewhere (preferably in the sidebar).
  2. Check PSS often for the Assignment Phrase–you never know where you’ll find it! It may have its own dedicated post announcing the next assignment, or it may sneak its way into a regular post, you never know!
  3. Take photos of your look interpreting the Assignment, and post it on your blog whenever you want.
  4. When the Bloggers Do It Better Assignment post comes up on PSS, Link to your blog post using the link widget in that post, and have a fabulous time clicking through the rest of the amazing submissions! The link title should be only your blog name–nothing else.
  5. …And then keep an eye out for the next Assignment, when the fun starts all over again!

And right about now I should tell you that Assignment #1 is Colorblocking or Bold Colorful Stripes. Can’t wait to see what you come up with! Remember to check back for the official assignment post where you can link up to your post. Assignments will be “due” one week after they are announced. So that means next Tuesday, y’hear?

Needless to say this may get you some follows, and some good traffic (here’s hoping – it’s up to you to spread the word and make it a huge success!). Who knows, we might even garner big name attention (at least, I like to think so thanks to my awesome-blossom naming abilities). Before I babble on and make your eyes bleed from reading so much, let me close by saying that words cannot express how excited I am to start this with you! And scared. Quivering in my booties, scared. But mostly excited. I think.

Here are some badges for you to choose from, and the source codes for each (copy/paste):

On a side note, I just realized I'm the only non-blogger who has commented so far. I'm blog-less. Maybe I need to step up to the blog plate…

Haha no worries, B – you can just submit one of your previous color block posts the day of, there's no need to do a brand new post just for it – unless you want to, of course! <3

This is such a fabulous and fun concept!! I'm really excited to participate! I'm often very shy about sharing my blog {I think just a shy person in general}, but have been wanting to get more involved in the blogging community and think this is such a great way to start.

P.S. You should never feel nervous about sharing your ideas. From what I gather, you're a brilliant, strong women. Rock on, girl!

The link widget will be up on Tuesday!! It will be super spiffy (and easy, no worries) and will even make a thumbnail of your outfit to show off on the linkup post! Sorry for the confusion, you are not going crazy, I'm clearly just terrible at directions…so on Tuesday, come back to PSS, where there will be a Colorblock assignment post, and link up that post in the widget that will be in the body of the post! Sorry for the confusion gal!Glad you are participating!

This looks like fun! I don't know if I can participate in this week's assignment specifically (I'm still a little hazy on the entire concept of "color blocking"… have to do a little research!) but I'm definitely signing up for subsequent assignments! Thanks for a great idea!

Wow! GREAT idea! Can't wait to be a part of this. I've got some ideas for the first assignment. And will be a great challenge as I'm normally NOT a colour wearing girl! :)

This is an awesome idea! I'd love to join in but I won't have time to take pictures till Wednesday… Will the link up be closed by then? Otherwise, I'd join in on the next assignment. :)

Stumbled upon your blog not too long ago and can't wait to participate. My friend and I are starting up a blog together and although we missed the first challenge we can't wait to participate in the next! You are truly an inspiration, so thanks for that.

    Hey,

I've added the link to my blog just wanted to double check how this works, so i've added it and i have to check PSS regular for the challenges? and once the challenge is out take a pic and upload on our blog? with this how would you know if we have and how do we see others? I have read the instructions over and over but still wasn't quite sure so thought its best to ask. This is a fantastic idea! Can't wait to get started.

When each challenge is ready for the linkup, there will be a widget within a linkup post that will post on the deadline of the challenge. Use the widget to add the permanent link to your blog post about the challenge. Make sure you have the badge in the sidebar and link to the current challenge within your post. That's it!
