Today I wanted to share my typical winter date night outfit and makeup look with you guys. I’ve also found a really great way to highlight thanks to two new Clinique products. When it comes to a casual movie date with my husband, you won’t see any high heels or super tight jeans–I’m much more low-key than most, I guess. I prefer natural makeup (jazzing it up with a quick, easy, and foolproof contour method, more on that below) and a cozy sweater. (Gasp!) leggings round out the casual comfy nature of the outfit. Since it was particularly chilly, I added my army green hooded jacket and North Face beanie. You’ll probably notice that I’m quite short–so to give the illusion of longer legs I try to match my shoe/boot color to my pant, so here I’ve used black biker boots from Pour La Victoria to give some of that illusion. But let’s be honest. My legs are damn short.Read & Comment →

Keeping It Casual

Hello my friends! I am alive! I’m truly sorry for being MIA here on the blog these days…My American Board of Anesthesiology exam (part 1) is coming up July 29th and I’ve been spending every waking hour at home studying for the darn thing. Oh, and doing yoga. I’m doing yoga now and so far I like it! Read & Comment →

I will be the first to admit it: I have a tendency to find favor in the routine. If I’ve found the perfect breakfast taco, why would anyone keep trying other places? I only trust the baked potatoes at my work’s cafeteria–so I’ve been known to eat them everyday for a week. I don’t know for sure if its a genetic trait, but if my father’s routine of eating a bowl of Corn Flakes every morning for 30 years is any indication, well…I think we’ve answered that question.

I’ve worn a similar rendition of this outfit before, you see. The truth is, when I find something I like, I stick with it. Double denim is one of those combinations that I absolutely love playing with. And in this iteration, I don’t think it looks too country cowpoke hick farmer-girl when paired with a few chic, stereotype-shattering accessories like a high-end bag (a crossbody, naturally), sparkly flats, and rhinestone-encrusted friendship bracelets.

Honestly, why mess with a good thing?

Wow, it feels good to finally do an outfit post again! Hubbie and I made ourselves promise to do one on my one day off this week–and he had the whole location picked out. He had scouted out this place a while back, and told me he planned on taking me there the next time we shot my outfit. And although it’s been years (okay, a month) since my last outfit post, it feels good to get back in the style game with such a lush backdrop.Read & Comment →
