Save the Date: MICHELE Watches Event This Saturday

I’ve been a fan of MICHELE watches for a long time, but it wasn’t until I treated myself to one that I realized just what I had been missing out on: amazing craftsmanship, premium materials, superlative timekeeping, and….(dun dun DUNNN!) the ability to change up your look at any moment. Until I purchased my own MICHELE Watch for myself, I had never known that the bands were interchangeable. Since then, I’ve been having so much fun changing up my look to suit my outfit or my mood that day.

MICHELE watches must have taken notice, because we’re partnering up this Saturday, November 8th, for a very special event at The Nordstrom store in The Woodlands (part of Houston Metropolitan area). The details are below (including prizes!):

  • Nordstrom The Woodlands, watch department
  • 1201 Lake Woodlands Dr., The Woodlands, TX 77380
  • Saturday, November 8, 2014, from 1pm – 4pm
  • Come in and try on different MICHELE watches, customize your favorite piece, I’ll help you! (Hey, I’ll even help drop a hint for your significant other for that Holiday wishlist! *wink wink*)
  • We’ll hang out, gab, have refreshments and sweet treats, take pictures, and I’ll hand out prizes!
  • We will be doing two drawings, and the winner of each drawing will receive a watch head, the matching bracelet and two straps of their choice. Customers must be present to win.
  • Each winner will then have the opportunity to make their perfect MICHELE timepiece with the help of yours truly by choosing from a selection of watch heads and straps
  • During the event, take a picture of the watch you’ve put together and post it with the hashtag #MYSTYLEMYMICHELE on Instagram
  • There’s also an awesome gift with purchase if you decide to splurge right then and there!
  • There’s no obligation to purchase, but every obligation to have fun!!

Vlog: Houston Meetup

Dress: Guess (similar) | Tights: Merona (Target) | “Leather” Jacket: Arden B. | Shoes: Urban Outfitters | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelet: J.Crew

I had an absolutely incredible time at the Origins event I hosted last week with Glamour Magazine! First of all, I’m still completely starstruck over the fact that Glamour and Origins (two major household names, at least in my book) picked little old me to be their Blogger hostess…but what I’m even more dumbfounded by is how many of YOU showed up! Y’all are awesome! Such a great turnout and I think you all had a great time having luxurious custom facials and getting your makeup done afterwards. So awesome! Should we do more of these in the future?

Houston Meetup with Origins, Glamour & PSS

Hey everyone! If you’re in the Houston area, I would love to (finally!) meet you! I’m hosting an event held with Glamour Magazine and Origins and as part of the meetup/event, you’ll get a mini facial with Origins products, as well as gift/goodie bags, and you’ll be entered into an amazing sweepstakes. Not bad for a meet-and-greet, huh? Plus, I’ll be talking raving about my favorite moisturizer (which I’ve mentioned only about half a dozen times on my blog already), the GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer, and their fabulous new Smarty Plants CC Cream – which offers surprisingly good coverage! Be sure to let Glamour know you’re coming by RSVP’ing to Visit for more info! Let me know in the comments, too, if you’re planning on coming!!

Mini Haul Video & TV Segment

Hey y’all, sorry for the sparse updating – lots of posts under-way and I promise to sit down and edit them all very soon for you! In the meantime, hope you enjoy a little mini-haul from Trader Joe’s (beauty section), as well as some lovely products sent to me by TheBalm and Azature! Let me know if you’d like to see more mini-hauls from time to time! They’re pretty manageable so I think I can squeeze these in if you like them, on days when I don’t have time for an outfit post! (On that note, I have two outfit posts waiting in the wings, so YES I’m still doing style posts, haha!) Please subscribe to my YouTube videos. Happy Dance

I did not believe I would have the privilege of being able to write something like this, but, mind-boggling as it is…here I am. Pretty Shiny Sparkly has been nominated a 2nd year in a row for best fashion or beauty blog! I’m so touched you guys, seriously. And while I know there’s probably no hope of winning against giants like Emily (who won last year), I’m so humbled and sincerely grateful that some of you even considered me to be in the likes of these people. Truly honored. I may or may not have jumped out of bed and done a happy dance in my pajamas while my husband gave me the crazy-eyed who-the-heck-did-I-marry look.

But perhaps what I am most proud of is that my mother’s blog, Channeling Erik, is also nominated! My mom works extraordinarily hard on a blog and a topic that she’s incredibly passionate about. Even if it may not be your cup of tea, I truly believe she deserves your vote because she devotes at least 8 hours a day to the blog. This is seriously a full-time job for  her folks, and she doesn’t accept a cent for it. Please take a second to click her blog’s icon to vote, scroll down and enter your email (they don’t save or spam you, promise–it’s to make sure people don’t vote multiple times) and then click the link in the verification email to officially cast your vote. Check your spam folders if it doesn’t pop up after a few minutes!

Now excuse me while I take the opportunity to do another happy dance! (Ask my father–I have a rather embarrassing Jim Carrey-esque jig that I’m known in my family for pulling out whenever I’m supremely happy.) You guys rock. Thanks so much.

Houston Blogger Symposium, y’all

So I’m speaking at a Houston blogger conference this weekend, September 15th. Tickets are unfortunately all sold out (and there’s 90+ of you on the waitlist, yikes!) but there is a pre-party the night before at Langford Market on Friday the 14th, from 7-9pm (located at 2715 University Blvd). I’m planning on being there to say hi to you all, my fellow bloggers. You don’t need a ticket or anything for the pre-party, just show up and have a good time!

Hope to see you there!

Texas Style Council Recap

This past weekend has been a whirlwind. Some of it was fabulous, some of it was tragic. On Friday I drove to Austin, Texas, home of my undergraduate education (The University of Texas) looking forward to a fun-filled weekend at the Texas Style Council, where I was scheduled to speak on Sunday.

Saturday morning I received the tragic news of a death in my future family–a loss that is at once both heartbreaking (as the loss of only the most truly wonderful people in this world can be) and, strangely, joyful (as only a long-suffering illness that has ended can inspire). And that same evening my 3 year old niece was in the emergency room back home for swallowing a bracelet (she’s fine)–a future fashionista in the making.

HB insisted that I remain in Austin, however, because he knew I would be of no functional help (I wasn’t) and I’m a stickler about following through on my commitments. I’m glad I stayed, because I had such a wonderful time at the conference on Sunday, meeting new faces and catching up with old friends. Click for more photos!Read & Comment →

Kardashian Kollection Makeover

A while back I was in New York City for a makeover / fashion shoot for the new Kardashian Kollection line, which is available exclusively at searsStyle, and designed by the Kardashian sisters. It was such a fun experience (my first professional photo shoot ever!) and I thoroughly enjoyed all the girly aspects (having my makeup, nails and hair done) and all the wonderful people on set. I also really enjoyed getting to know my fellow co-models, A Mom in Red High Heels, and Miss Whoever You Are–such fun girly-girls like myself!

We were instructed to look casual and comfy, and shot “Before” photos. Man, oh, man–wait til you see the “After” photos and you’ll realize why I felt so frumpy beforehand! (Just as a hint…they dubbed my style “Rocker Chic”.) Click on to see the “After” photos!Read & Comment →
