Drowning in Clothes and Butter.

What did I do this week when I wasn’t working on BDIB or gnashing my teeth at the thought of my upcoming rotation exam in Pediatrics?

I made cinnamon toast. With vanilla extract. And butter. In my pajamas.

Pop Quiz: What’s better than butter, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla?

The correct answer is: Mixing it all together into a fine, finger-lickin’ spread of deliciousness, of course.

Bet you’re thinkin’ I put the fork into my mouth as soon as the photo was taken.

Well, I never! Don’t you know I have a little more self-control than th–

It was delicious.

All in all, Ree – delicious. And definitely the best cinnamon toast around. [houston] and I may or may not have licked our fingers and moaned a little bit at the indulgent sweetness. Yummy.

I also may or may not have been using the cooking as an avoidance tactic to skillfully procrastinate on a much larger issue at hand.

Who wants to come over and do laundry with me? Now don’t all jump up at once.

I launder, you fold. It’s how it works around here. ‘Kay? Because the prospect of folding laundry makes me not entirely opposed to shoving bamboo reeds under my fingernails, biting a spoon, being coughed on by a kid with croup 2 inches from my face*, or other equally unappealing things.

Thank you thank you THANK YOU for all of you who filled out the survey (if you haven’t, you still can, that is if you’re amazeballs) – I am reading all of your feedback, one by one, and you all had so much to say! Love it and love YOU! Happy Friday!

*Yes, this actually happened to me yesterday. Joy.

There are few things better in this world than cinnamon – and cinnamon toast has been one of my favorites or years!

    • http://prettyshinysparkly.com Kristina

It is definitely the ultimate comfort food!

with all the inconveniences and drama of city life, the best thing about being an urban-dweller is the constant existence of wash & fold. for a little more than a regular trip to the laundromat, one can have their clothes washed, FOLDED and delivered. i havent done my own wash in 2 years.

I envy you. Oh how I envy you.

  • Natalie

OH. MY. GOSH. I would make that as a snack when I was in grade school and must thank you immensely for reminding me of such wonders. This will most likely be my *healthy lunch tomorrow.

Your survey was literally the first thing I did upon waking up this morning….on my phone, sans-glasses. I'm pretty sure I accidentally filled in the wrong age bracket, but as of Saturday, my lie will no longer be so.

    • http://prettyshinysparkly.com Kristina

Natalie! It's been forever doll! I've missed your comments :) thank you SO much for taking the survey sweetie, I really appreciate it.

When I first saw that picture with a link, I knew it was going to take me to Pioneer Woman. Yum.

Ah crud, I didn't mean to paste all those links in my comments! I meant to paste my blog link. Oops!

Haha no worries Amy – I totally fixed it for ya! P.S. — looks like shopping to me! ;)

  • http://krystlesstyle.blogspot.com Krystle

Actually, if you were anywhere near me I would totally come and fold laundry for you!! I LOVE FOLDING LAUNDRY!! I seriously think it's really fun and relaxing. I think it comes from being obsessive about making things perfect… it's something I can "make perfect." Ok, so now you know how weird I am! :)

….how fast can you get here? ::looks impatiently at watch::

  • http://www.thechloeconspiracy.com Chloe

Ooooh, give me cinnamon over chocolate ANY day (for real!)- this looks DIVINE. Drooling, drooling, drooling.

  • http://www.blahblahbecky.co.uk www.blahblahbecky.co

Oh wow that looks so good!

I just completed the survey and genuinely couldn't think of one negative thing to say!

    • http://prettyshinysparkly.com Kristina

      Thank you so much Becky!

  • Anine

I always prefer doing laundry when it comes to doing work around the house :-)

Don't know why, but sorting laundry and folding clean clothes is relaxing to me.

    • http://prettyshinysparkly.com Kristina

Oy vey, Anine. I'll do the housework, you do the laundry. When can you get here?

  • http://live-life-in-style.blogspot.com Shasie

Your blog is so cute and entertaining! That toast made me sooo hungry as it's about breakfast time here!

    http://live-life-in-style.blogspot.com

    • http://prettyshinysparkly.com Kristina

Make yourself some, girl! The main reason why I up and made this is because I decided I had no excuse – I had all of the ingredients in my pantry/fridge. And it's so fun (though it takes a bit deal longer to make than other "regular" cinnamon toast).

  • http://hithaonthego.com/ Hitha

I have to say, I bought a folding board (like the ones used in stores) and now I really enjoy folding clothes.

Judge away. But it does make the process more manageable when your dresser looks like it belongs in a boutique!

    • http://prettyshinysparkly.com Kristina

Hmm….does it make your life better and shinier and brighter? If it takes away the pain of folding clothes I might have to give it some consideration. Where can you buy one?

      • http://hithaonthego.com/ Hitha

It totally makes my life better and brighter and shinier! I have a Victorinox Pakmaster (packing envelope) that came with a folding board – a fab double-duty device I highly recommend! You can buy them on Amazon. I use the large board for sweaters, the medium board for t-shirts and tanks.

  • Lynn Z.

Oddly enough, I also enjoy folding laundry (like Krystle!)! I may or may not have a slight case of OCD, so when it comes to laundry, I'm all about it! Too bad I'm all the way in NJ or I'd def come give you a hand! (in exchange for some cinammon toast or your delicious Hello Dolly bars of course ;)

I'm kidnapping all of you alien folding-aficionados and plying you with cinnamon toast. Done.

  • http://www.Considermelovely.com Rocquelle

I HAVE GOT TO MAKE THAT TOAST! It looks SOOO yummy!!

I would take you up on that offer, but I LOATHE folding clothes! Some times I get dressed from my baskets of clean clothes until it's time to wash again (shhh don't tell anybody lol).

    • http://prettyshinysparkly.com Kristina

Rocquelle, it appears we have EVERYTHING in common when it comes to folding laundry! I too sometimes pluck clean clothes from their permanent residence in the laundry hamper, unfolded. (If you see wrinkles in my outfit posts, that's probably why.)

  • http://sparkycorner.wordpress.com Sara

O gosh that toast looks decadent!! Love the theme of this post and the photos~~ =)

Oh it is, steffy, it is. It's not my recipe, so I can say that, right? It melts in your mouth. It's probably all the butter. And sugar. Aaaaand now I need to go on a diet.

I tried to comment on your amazing color blocking outfit but the comments (disqus) didn't work. Just wanted to say great job lady! Amazing brights paired so well together!

That cinnamon toast looks so good, I just licked my screen….. at work. Now my boss is making me clean my monitors. Curse you delicious pictures!!

  • http://thehisandhersblog.com Meredith

Oh laundry days… I actually don't mind doing laundry or folding, but what kills me is having to haul all our laundry to the laundry room. City living at it's finest! What I wouldn't do for an in-unit washer/dryer!! :)

P.S. Just took your survey! Loving your blog ~ keep up the great work!

  • http://diamondsandtulle.blogspot.com Vivian

Oh that looks incredible! I have been known to do up to 3 loads of laundry and have piles of clean clothes waiting to be folded for a week. eek.

  • Adriana Garcia

Totally making this for Easter breakfast!! Thanks

  • http://6birds.net Liz

I didn't know there was a right/wrong way to make cinnamon toast.

And the way you made it kind of looks much better!

However, that seems like a lot of work for just a serving for one.

    Great pictures! :)

  • http://caught-in-a-tale.blogspot.com/ Trisha

Laundry & housework . Always leads me to cooking/baking too ! The way I see it, if I whip up something yummy for the boyf, he has no excuse to escape the laundry ;)

I love your blog by the way, so relatable and super cute . I'm going to try these cinnamon toasts tomorrow, can you believe I've never had one ?!

Oh laundry – not fun indeed. In my house, I call it the "never ending story". It seems to come back and haunt you each time you think you've finished one load! Food on the other hand, and in this case – anything with cinnamon is a definite YES. Thanks for sharing how you make your cinnamon toast, my kids would LOVE this. And I've done your survey too! Love your blog! :) xx

You always have the most entertaining posts. I love reading your blog! I also loathe laundry, I will wait until my husband and I are completely out of clothes before doing it. It's a very bad habit, but I don't see it changing anytime soon:)

I just discovered your blog a few days ago (through a facebook post on Cupcake & Cashmere's facebook page) and I must say, I am a big fan! I've added your site to my morning blog reading routine, and it has already been extremely inspiring. This cinnamon toast looks sooo sinfully delicious and I can't wait to try out the easy recipe! Also, thanks for all the awesome tips in your successful fashion blog "how-to". I will be redesigning my blog asap! I love all the fonts and colors you use, they make your blog look so organized and professional. How do I access them? Thanks for the inspiration! xo

Mmm what is it about butter that makes everything better? I am finishing up OB clinicals, studying for finals and selecting preceptor placements. The other night I got the WORST craving for cupcakes and buttercream icing, so me and the hubby whipped up a bunch. That made the careplans way easier to get through!

I like chocolate, but when I get into a bad place I want butter!

  • http://www.glitterandgrace.com Sara B

Oh my gosh that looks so delicious!! I want a spoonful of that amazingness RIGHT now!! My mom used to make us cinnamon toast growing up, thanks for reminding me about this delicious treat, I'll have to make some myself now!

  • http://www.takeonlymemories.com Vanessa

This looks so yummy, I'm tempted to make it right now even though it's nearly midnight :)

  • http://lovemakesthegirl.blogspot.com Jane

I love cinnamon toast. My mom used to make it for breakfast all the time! Her approach is a little different though. She would butter the bread and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on top then toast. This is a good idea and would make a uniform cinnamony sugary spread! I should try this for my boyf John. He loves anything cinnamony!
