Oxblood

Oxblood is a color that is unique unto itself. Only the fashion world can make brownish-burgundy chic and desireable. It’s everywhere, it’s inescapable (did you read this Refinery29 post?). The UT Longhorn in me would shudder at the thought of calling it maroon (the color of my college rival). But I quite like this color; it’s the color of football games and chili, raking leaves, and scarves.

Now, for this Bloggers Do It Better challenge, the trick will be for us to get this color right. We can’t slip on a pair of darkish red skinnies and call it a day. Finding the right color–this oxblood–takes legwork. The color is, again, a wine color with tints of brown.

As always, the rules are simple. Have a BDIB button up in your sidebar, post your outfit (must be a real outfit on you, no collages) to your own blog, and then wait for the link up post. The link up post will go live Tuesday, September 25th! Good luck!

    I adore this color and have been waiting for it to come in style! It reminds me of the 20s and 30s glamour, which I love. So perfect as a matte lipcolor, paired with a pair of velvet pumps, sheer black tights, and a leather-detailed LBD!

    I really love the colour now but this was the colour of my school uniform. Oxblood jumper, skirt and tights with a blue shirt. I always hated it but now I love it (although I’d not go as ott as our uniform was)
