Today’s Face: Pink Lips, Winged Liner

cateyepinklipGRWM1sm

“Getting Ready With Me” videos are popular on YouTube, and I personally like to film them more than “makeup tutorial” type videos, largely because I’m not a makeup artist and you probably do your makeup way better than I. But “GRWM” type videos are nice because they’re a casual, laid back way to see how the YouTuber does their makeup. Now, this isn’t my everyday makeup by far (I think I’d frighten my patients with that neon lip) but on weekends or days off in general I like to spice it up since I have to be so boring at work.

My Travel Essentials

Today I wanted to share with you my travel essentials! These are the toiletries (not skincare specific) that I always stock in my travel Dopp/toiletry kit so that I have it ready to go at a moment’s notice. This saves me a TON of time and energy when packing for my next overnight stay somewhere. I hope you find it useful! I like to have the kit ready to go even when I’m not planning on going anywhere so that I can shop for travel/miniature items with a clear mind and free of the time constraints. My makeup bag and toiletry bag are both from this website. All other items are purchased from my local drugstore/Target. Hope you find this useful!

Where are you planning on traveling to next? Let me know in the comments below!

New In: La Prairie Glossybox, Clinique Cheek Pops

Hello loves! Have you missed me? I’m sorry I’ve been a bit absentee the past week, I’ve been on call in the hospital quite a lot this week.

Now, as a beauty blogger, it’s my pleasure to bring you new product launches and one of my privileges (quite humbling, really) is the chance to review product before it gets into your hands. Two such items are on display today (and available in stores now, I’m happy to announce).

I got my hands on the new Limited Edition La Prairie Glossybox (available now alas, sold out already!) which I think is a fantastic buy as it makes a stellar travel skincare kit.

I also sampled the new collection from Clinique, called “Cheek Pops“. I think the name is a bit irritating, and I’m not crazy about the gerbera daisy print (really, Clinique, we’re grown up now from the “Happy” days, please take a cue from Japonesque and make your packaging chic!!). But what I am crazy about is the formulation. Simply stellar! Wish they made a shade similar to Tarte’s Exposed, then their lineup would be complete.

Restørsea Skincare

I have told you guys about my skincare routine (morning & night) in the past on my YouTube channel. But since my last update, I’ve had quite the switcheroo with my moisturizers. I’ve been using Restørsea Day & Night creams since I last spoke to you guys and my skin has completely transformed. Instead of combination/oily skin, my skin type is now, actually, normal. It hasn’t been that way since puberty! My acne is markedly improved, only popping out for hormonal bouts in a monthly fashion (ahem). I haven’t changed anything else about my skincare so I’m quite certain that all of the aforementioned beneficial changes to my skin can be attributed to these two products.

In the above video, I describe at length how these two moisturizers work, and what other differences I’ve seen in my skin. I also give you guys a little update on my lash extensions (by the way, mention my blog at Winx Lash & Makeup Studio in Houston and get 40% off your full set!).

Restørsea Rejuvenating Day Cream, $150
Restørsea Restoring Night Cream, $175
Special Offer set: Full size Day & Night creams for $225 using promo code DAYNIGHT

This is probably one of the most expensive sets of products I’ll ever recommend on this blog, but I couldn’t not share it with you just because it’s pricey. It probably won’t be for all of us, but for those who can make the splurge (and like to do so) this stuff is transformative. Now, you could just as easily use less expensive moisturizer day and night, and in fact I’ve recommend several of my favorites in the past that I happen to love.

Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm

I have the pleasure of testing out a lot of beauty products as a result of the work I do on my blog. Sure, I get excited when I get to try the latest name-brand release, but what gets me even more excited (albeit a bit less often, sadly) is when I try something from a brand I’ve never heard of and fall in love with it. Such is the case with this Merumaya Melting Cleansing balm. I love cleansing balms – they take makeup off like a dream and don’t make your face feel tight or dry, and they’re perfect for almost any skin type (except maybe the extremely sensitive?). What I like about this cleansing balm over the Emma Hardie cleansing balm is twofold: first, the packaging is in a squeeze tube, which I find infinitely more hygienic than digging my grubby hands in a jar every day. Secondly, I adore the smell. Rather than pungently herbal, this cleansing balm smells soft and floral. I think they’re equally effective, and while I’m not putting one over the other completely, I am happy to have both in my skincare collection.

Are there any other cleansing balms out there you would like me to review? Also, I’m doing a Q&A video very soon so please send me your questions via Twitter or Facebook (tag them with #askPSS so I know you’re okay to be featured if your question gets selected)!
