There’s something really fun and sweet about pairing neon brights with animal print (see this post). This is an outfit I wanted to wear several weeks ago but never got to. The outfit combo has stuck in my mind since then and when HB and I finally got the opportunity (read: day off) to shoot an outfit post, I knew what I was wearing that day.

We’ve decided to put our house hunt on hold indefinitely–for a variety of reasons, the most important probably being that we’d like to relish the days leading up to our rapidly approaching wedding, and not stress out about finding and buying our first house. Strangely, the day after we made this decision I woke up feeling lighter and happier than I have been for weeks. I’m getting excited about the wedding again and everything feels right now. Isn’t it strange how deciding not to give yourself what you want most can make you happier than the alternative…

How fun is it to wear your jewelry on your shoes? xo

Oh yeah.. I keep telling myself – One step at a time cos too much at once, not only overwhelms us but also kills the joy of a lot of the journey! Love the outfit and those are some serious shoes!

You couldn’t be more right, Vidhya!

Really beautiful outfit! I really like the light in these photos!
I’m sure you’ll find your dream house sometime in the future, and you’ll be happier than ever…But now you have to concentrate on your wedding which is a really important moment of your life, and not feel stressed by anything else. So I believe it was the best decision for you, for the time being.

    • http://prettyshinysparkly.com Kristina

Thanks M. I believe so too. It was a hard day, letting go. Lots of emotional roller-coastering. But the next day when I woke up and realized I felt so light and free, I knew I had made the right decision.

The couple that bought our first house from us (a cottage on Rice Blvd in West U) was getting married and she was graduating from medical school all at the same time too. In fact, we closed either the day of or the day before her graduation and thye were getting married too! They were so stressed. I felt bad for them. Ironically, we have some mutual friends and I see her sometimes and she has said how stressful that was.

The immense JOY of a wedding and new marriage and graduating from medical school all come along once…you need to slow down and savor all the little moments. 16 years later I can look back and it is the tiny things (like getting my hair done the morning of my wedding while having a heart to heart with my best friend) that I remember. Or the first few minutes my husband and I were alone in the limo after we were married. I remember the look on his face.

I think you made the right decision. Your first house will be so special too. But in its own time. You have so may exciting things to look forward to.

Love jewelry on heels, or any play with the heel —- Prada has some great ones where the heel is like the stem of a flower. Great outfit – I am a big fan of color with animal print! In the Alice and Olivia lookbook, they had a zebra print top with mint green wide leg pants that I was dying over! xo

Happy to hear you guys are stress-free, take one day at a time :)

Love jewelry on shoes! Have you seen the new Enzo Angiolini pumps? OMG they’re gorgeous – completely blinged out! I posted a close up of them on my Instagram, they’re hot! I would really want to get them but they’re kinda bridal-ish… & the black aren’t as blingy. I think they pink (yes they have pink!) might be too muted. You should check them out, they’re so nice!

Love your outfit, leopard print + anything = perfection!

I have a very similar top and I always pair it with dark colors. I love it with the bright pink though. Now I just need to find a bright skirt or maybe colored jeans. Thanks! Great outfit! Looks perfect on you.

    Yay! You’re back :D

I love the shoes! I know I’ve already told you, but they’re awesome!! I feel you on the house hunting theme; it’s so incredibly stressful…we’ve not even broached the more in depth stages of it and it’s a serious stressor.

Glad you’re going to relax & enjoy the days leading up to your special day. <3

    Kristina,
I’m so, so glad you decided to wait to buy a house! And even more glad knowing you feel relief and calm after choosing that path. Just enjoy your wedding planning. Soak in every last moment of med school and your friends there. Then walk down the aisle with less stress on your shoulders. You’ll appreciate those memories forever and you’ll be glad you slowed down a bit to really relish in them.

Girl, it’s so true! We’re casually house-hunting, but ever since we got engaged, it’s one more pressure. We keep telling ourselves one step at a time, and the right house will be available at the right time. I’m glad you’ve given yourself the time and ability to step back and enjoy the days leading up to the wedding!
