Soft Rosy Pink & Taupe Makeup Tutorial

Perfect for date night, or even everyday, this soft and sweet makeup look combines fresh-faced rosy pinks with muted taupes. You might want to use this for inspiration whilst getting ready tonight! Click to learn more about the tutorial & to see a list of products!

Please don’t gape in horror at my makeup-less face…oh, and please excuse the ratty hair. I could make a quip about a family of rats nesting in my hair, but it’s honestly the result of curling my hair the night before, spraying it with loads of hairspray, and then sleeping in it and waking up the next day. Looking like this.

Work appropriate but definitely still romantic, I think. Like/subscribe to me on YouTube if you’re interested — it’s my first-ever full-on makeup tutorial (don’t you want to see me without makeup?? it’s pretty bad!). I figured, if I’m going to go out of my comfort zone this week, I may as well

Also, by popular request, the tutorial will show you how to apply the Bobbi Brown (or any) gel eyeliner. With the quickest and easiest cat-eye you’ve ever seen!

Ha! Thanks Rory but I think I’m far from it! You are very sweet, though. :)

I love the way you did you eyeshadow. I don’t think I have a face that can pull off a cat eye, but it looks beautiful on you! Thanks for sharing your tips.

I know the cat-eye’s not for everyone but I do think it can be flattering on all faces. Check out Lisa Eldridge’s site, she has amazing makeup tips but she does very minimal cat-eyes and they suit her wonderfully. Thank you for your sweet comment!

You are so right about defining the brows, it totally pulls together the whole face. Loved the tutorial!

I feel like an idiot saying this, but I had never thought of doing gel liner from out to in. My previous attempts at a cat eye were, um, horrific.

But thanks to your tutorial, I just did it perfectly for the very first time. Thank you!

Oh Laura that makes me so happy to hear! Glad you mastered it! xoxo

Love that foundation! It’s my favorite :)

  • Karen

Love the tutorials! I’d like to know what foundation brush you use, and the brush you use to blend your eyes hadow. Thanks!

    • http://prettyshinysparkly.com Kristina

My foundation brush is from jane iredale, but I’ve had generally the same luck with drugstore foundation brushes…I’m convinced it’s the only makeup brush you can scrimp on, because they all do pretty much the same job! To blend my eyeshadow I swear by the MAC 217 and 239 brushes–they’re amazing, but expensive. Sigma makes some great more affordable ones.

Hi Kristina! I actually LOVE gel eyeliner. I had a make-up artist do my make-up recently (the lovely Lindsey Jones, NYC based) – and I told her I would NEVER be able to do liquid. So she taught me gel and to start from the outside or else I might make myself look a fool! It’s easy and I love it so great tips and props to you! xoDevon of pattyandlo

Your tutorials are great! btw, have you tried the shu uemura eyelash curler? It’s amazing!

    • http://prettyshinysparkly.com Kristina

I’ve never had the pleasure of trying a shu uemura eyelash curler but i’m sure once i did i’d be a convert! :)

Your cat eye is so perfect! I normally see the smokey eye but I love this pretty soft look. I’m a sucker for pink! Thanks so much for sharing.
