Splurge or Steal: Christian Louboutin

SoS-christian-louboutin-dupe

When it comes to Christian Louboutin shoes, everyone always thinks about the red sole. But honestly, after one wear, that pretty red sole starts looking pretty darn messy. Now, I’m all about luxury and high-end items (I didn’t grow up hearing my dad say I’ve “got champagne tastes on a beer budget” all my life for nothing!). But there is expensive, and then there is stupid expensive. Christian Louboutin is one of them. Want to buy that pair of shoes right there? That’ll set you back a couple thou. As in thousands. Of US dollars.

Or you could just buy these for under $170 bucks and call it a day.

O.o The Betsey Johnson ones are super cute! I want a pair of Louboutins so bad, but like you said… I wouldn’t ever dare wear them off a carpet, much less out of the house!

The Lous are gorgeous, naturally, but I find it’s better to invest in designer purses. They last longer and don’t show as much wear! The red sole on Lou’s get pretty scraggly….though I’ve heard you can get them touched up if you take them back in. I think it’s kind of silly. Why pay that much for shoes if you’re afraid to wear them? The Betsey dupes are nice, look just as pretty, and will probably last just as long.

My hubs bought me a pair of Christian Louboutins at Neiman Marcus Last Call for my 30th birthday. I immediately put a protective covering over the red sole and they’ve held up beautiful since February. I don’t know how many other pairs I would purchase, but this was a big birthday and they were half off which made them “reasonable.”

I agree with you! I’m thinking about buying a pair of Louboutin’s for my wedding day, but outside of that, I’m all about saving some money and going for the steal!

This look-for-less is a great find! I agree that shelling out that amount for a pair of shoes that aren’t super versatile is a bit painful!

I think in this case the BJ’s (that looks bad) are the better buy. I don’t know why everyone looses their rag over Louboutin’s? I would MUCH rather a nice pair of Bryan Atwoods or Balenciagas (when I remortgage the house to afford them #wink)

I love Louboutins too — but they will probably never be in my budget! Even if I had all the money in the world, it’s hard to justify spending over a grand on a PAIR OF SHOES. But they sure are beautiful for the people who are down with that!

I’d go with the steal, but personally don’t love the look of platform heels. Or overly embellished ones like this either! But good to know there’s a less expensive option out there

I’ve never been a massive fan of CL’s “Daffodile” heels but if you seem them outside the Swarovski crystals are absolutely breathtaking and catch the light in the most amazing way. Granted, I don’t think they’re worth the price but I’ll always have an irrational love for Louboutin.

I’m not a fan of Loubous either. They are too “new money’ to wear. I don’t like to have people look at my outfit and judge how much I’ve paid.
