For this installment of Bloggers Do It Better, winter coats are the name of the game. As mentioned in my previous post, I ordered this lovely coat from Zara.com and before I had even pressed “complete order” I already knew that I wanted to have it altered in a few subtle ways. Namely, the coat has two decorative buttons on the breast area which (horrifyingly) sit right over one’s nipple region. I had my tailor remove the buttons, stating that they looked like nipples, and waited patiently to see if his face turned red (rather disappointingly, it didn’t).

I also had the coat shortened to knee-length to fit my staunchly petite frame, and the sleeves were shortened to fit my freakishly short arms.

My patience and foresight were rewarded, as I happily now have what I consider to be a coat that looks more expensive than it actually was.

We’re on the cusp of summer/winter currently here in Houston, Texas. When I wake up each morning, I don’t know if the temperature high will be 75, or 85. But the days have been absolutely gorgeous: clear, crisp, with the precipitous sensation that soon it will tip over the edge and plummet into winter. I guess that’s why we call it Fall.

P.S. –  these boots are the most comfortable pair I own! Like wearing slippers!

Lovely coat, so chic and classic. I am a coat fanatic – weird, right? :) There’s almost nothing I love more than a dramatic, beautifully tailored coat.

This is a lovely post, the outfit is so chic and the lighting is beautiful. The weather is pretty much the same here is Vegas, which means that my trunk/back seat are a Summer/Winter closet.

I’m very petite and built like a 12 year old boy so altering is heaven-sent and I think they way you did it was SPOT-ON!

This is a very posh, grown up, classy look. After Robin Thicke’s suit at the vmas I never again wished to see thick black and white stripes but they look fabulous (and not twerked upon) on you.
I’m glad you had the coat altered! It fits you perfectly, and definitely has an air that it costs a bundle!

I’ve been looking all over internet-land for a camel coat just like this! This color seems to be sold out on the Zara website though. Looks gorgeous on you.

First things first, You look stunning..!! Although your choice of tying a knot at the bottom of your shirt seems quite stylish. However, a simple belt would have also done the work here.
