It’s good to get fall into the Gap again. When I was younger, I adored Gap. And then somewhere along the line, we grew apart. I’m happy to be reunited, and so excited to see all the colorful, pastel-ly, confectionery colored jeans they are bringing out this spring. And I love this new skimmer jean – for pear-shaped women like me, it’s nice to have a little room in a skinny jean without broadcasting to the world what kind of underwear you’re wearing, or (dare I say it) cellulite. I also like that it’s more of a casual look than a “Hey, look at me” statement.

This pair of polka dotted Skimmers is fun but also relaxed and casual. It’s a weekend skinny jean, and I’m a weekend jeans kinda girl. Best of all, I ordered these in Petite so no hemming required! (Did I mention they start at just under $70?)

I also dabbled in a little bit of Prabal Gurung for Target madness…I was looking for something bright yellow and this oversized sweater fit the bill.

I also ordered these Gap skimmer jeans in my normal size, knowing that they run a size or two large. I did that to avoid what I call The Sausage Effect: squeezing too much–er, leg–into a small “casing”, so the mind perceives the leg as thick. Now, you all know that I have self-proclaimed cankles, so I’ll do anything to minimize that bizness.

Anyway. I just really like these jeans.

This post is made possible by an awesome collaboration with Gap, who also provided compensation for my time styling, photographing, and creating this post. My opinions are my own, and I truly like this brand. Match made in heaven. The End.

So happy to know that these work for pear-shapes (since I am one too!) – will definitely be checking them out in store…love how you’ve styled them here :)

I just recently bought polka dot jeans as well, but not from the Gap. I also really loved them as a teen and somehow we lost touch.
I really like this style on you! The skimmer seems like it lives up to it’s name, gently outlining your shape vs. seeing all of your goodies.
Can I also just say, I never, ever notice your “thick calves” till you point them out? You are beautiful. Don’t worry about your “flaws” and celebrate that you are young, gorgeous, smart, and fun.

Those pants are absolutely amazing! I had been hearing a bit about “skimmer” pants from Gap, but hadn’t really looked into it. Well, I have now! They have such gorgeous prints and colours!
P.S. I love your disclaimer, it made me giggle out loud.

Great jeans, and really how could you go wrong with polka dots. I was actually looking at them on the Gap site before I came over and read your post. And i love the stripe detail on the cuffs of your blazer. I’m a sucker for little unexpected pops like that.

It’s really nice to know that companies are now making skinny-ish jeans that will look better on us pear-shaped ladies. I have avoided skinny jeans thus far for that very reason. I love these polka-dotted ones but at $70 they are way out of my price range.

Love the polka-dot/stripe combo and your new shorter hair length!

I was just looking at these skimmers online! Being petite myself, how do you feel the petites fit in comparison to the regular sizes? I am always nervous to purchase petite sizes online because its always a guessing game on how one stores petites fit vs. anothers. I have always loved gap for great basics!!!

For once in a long time, these petite sizes do not require hemming. I bought a pair of name-brand jeans about a month ago, and they were “petite” but 33″ inseam! These jeans do run on the larger size, though, so buy 1-2 sizes smaller than your normal size!

I think youre such an inspiration for being pear shaped! I love finding real women that blog because we are not all 5’10 and a size 2. Although I think many of those women are gorgeous, I am def. not one of those builds, so its always nice to see someone with a similar body type to mine! Those pants look gorgeous on you!

Don’t forget to trim your dog’s nails regularly. Long nails can make him
uncomfortable, cause injury to his feet and will ruin your floors.

If he makes a “click” sound when he walks on hard wood or
linoleum, that’s a good indication it’s time for a trim.
Ask your vet to do it if necessary.
