I’m a bit late in writing this, and if you’re a big blog reader then you’ve probably scrolled through at least half a dozen of these recap posts, but I figure…save the best for last, right? And procrastinate in the way only Kristina can. Click on to see a recap of some of the most commented posts, my favorite posts, & more. I promise not to disappoint. {Well, not too much, anyway.}

A banner year…

PSS has grown in leaps and bounds in the past year (which is literally the age of my blog!). Thanks to your sweetness, dedication, generosity, and glorious, glorious feedback in the name of my favorite thing ever (even more than chocolate): comments. You are what pushes me to continually reinvent myself and my blog. I want to be the Madonna of fashion blogs: big, always changing to adapt to the times and styles, and always a classic. Now, whether I can even attain this lofty status is less certain. But if you shoot for the moon, even if you don’t make it, you’ll land among the stars, right?

There are still posts lurking around PSS from the early days that have 0 comments. I remember writing posts and nearly deleting them halfway through out of frustration because I felt like nobody was listening. My writing, my thoughts, my posts–which, let’s be honest, we ALL crave validation for–were going into an empty abyss. What was the point? But then I started connecting more with readers & bloggers, and became an active commenter. With more press and more participation, my comment counts grew (not exponentially by any means, but steadily). I’m grateful for every single one of them, and am proud to say that to my (admittedly limited) knowledge, I was one of the first fashion bloggers that began replying to every single comment my readers made–no matter how long or short. I fell off the bandwagon here and there, but I’ve been going strong for months now and I think it has helped tremendously (that, and Disqus comments which will send notifications to the commenter when I reply to them†). Here are the top posts by number of comments: (Interestingly, yesterday’s post was #2! And yes, I included a post from 2011. So sue me.)

  1. The Year Without My Brother [63]
  2. Norwegian Leopard [55]
  3. Pomegranate Ice Cream [52]
  4. Chambray, Shades & Studs [46]
  5. Utopia Utopia [44]

  7. Bright & Shiny Young Thing [40]
  8. Accidentally In Love: Lavender Streaks [36]
  9. Pretty in Pink Pleats [36]
  10. Sail Away in Breton [35]

Disqus has been disabled for now because it and PSS are having a fight.

Sometimes my favorite posts aren’t necessarily the most popular, or even related to fashion (though most are). Here are the top 10 posts of 2010 that are closest to my heart.

  1. Utopia Utopia
  2. FBFF*: When is flattery by imitation just downright copying?
  3. Estimated Flight Time
  4. How to Have Classic Style
  5. Dreampuff
  6. Peace, Love, Escada

  8. PSS in LA: Days 4-7
  9. The Beach of Venice
  10. The Business of Fashion Blogging

It really is an honor to have any recognition at all, especially for a little blog that is barely over 1 year old. But in the past year I have had the incredible honor of having mentions, press, nods, winks, tweets, or what-have-you from the following venerable names: Table Tonic Gypsy 05 MTV Style Glamour.com Lucky Magazine Alpha Shopper Glamour’s Best Dressed Reader Chicks Who Chat Radio Show Shop It To Me 101 Top Fashion Blogs The Fashion Spot What I Wore Weardrobe Spotlight Blogger Selective Potential FabSugar Look of the Day 1 Beautiful Stranger Featured Blogger FabSugar Look of the Day 2 FabSugar Look of the Week BellaSugar Style Sample Magazine Most Professional Blog – G&G 2010 …despite all this, know that YOU, YOUR visits, YOUR comments, are my greatest accolade. High five. Here’s to another fantastic year, filled with surprises , challenges, and fun along the way, like little presents waiting to be unwrapped…like a year-long Christmas Day.

The social bar above is my tip jar. Pin, Like, and Tweet if you please!

Love, Kristina

Dear PSS, I want to thank you for introducing me to the world of fashion blogging. I started reading a friends' blog in September '10, and she linked another blog, whom I started reading, and that blog was linked to your blog, which I absolutely LOVE reading. I LOVE your sense of style and I have even tried adapting some of your tips and tricks to my style, thus making both of us pretty, shiny and sparkly!

I admire your hard work and dedication – I know first hand what it's like to be a med student – well, that's not entirely true – I'm not a med student, but I'm a clerkship coordinator, and I know how few hours of "free time" you get everyday between rotations, on-call, etc.

Thank you for all you do, your quirky ways and your one-of-a-kind style.

Rock on, sister! Wishing you all the best in 2011.

Lynn

Thank you so much Lynn, your comment really means a lot! HB is heading up to Campbell clinic today for an interview tomorrow! Is that where you work or no? Tennessee, right?

Nope, I'm in New Jersey…but I wish HB good luck!

Thank you so much for this post. I've only started reading your blog 3-4 months ago, so it was nice to see some of the highlights from the entire year.

The post about your brother brought tears to my eyes. I have a close family member that struggles with bipolar disorder and your post really hit home for me in several ways. Thank you for sharing your story.

Thank YOU Julie. It's truly amazing to realize how many families have struggled with the same issues.

I'm happy to see another year with PSS! I started reading your blog (I honestly cannot remember how I stumbled across it) right when I started blogging. I think PSS was about 3-4 months at that point, and I never stopped reading (that's quite the compliment, as I'm kind of a fashion blog nomad…). Keep up the great work Cristina, and which each reinvention of PSS, I fall more and more in love!

Kristina,

I want to thank you for making a blog that is fun to read and is totally relatable. I love your outfits, enjoy reading your content, and I stop by daily! You are definitely one of the reasons I started my own fashion blog. So thank you!
